Lee County schools amp up security measures to protect students, staff

In an attempt to keep students safe while at school, Lee County schools have made a lot of security changes.

School safety is a top priority to parents when dropping their kids off at school.

Friday, the safety and security director is going update us on how the new security measures are holding up.

One security measure that’s been stressed is a single entry point for visitors coming to campus.

A new monitoring system requires every visitor to show administrators their ID before they are let inside school grounds.

The district also each class room in Lee County with red locks, which allow every teacher to lock doors from the inside.

Now, for the first time ever, the district has an organized approach to prevention, with Threat Assessment teams, which identify those risks and take action.

The safety and security presentation starts Friday at 11 AM.
