On Thursday, Fort Myers Police Department will take part in a seminar that teaches fair and impartial policing while on patrol.

This is the city’s attempt to resolve some of the issues outlined in the Freeh report without the help of the Justice Department.

Rather than accepting the DOJ’s help at no cost, the city opted for a Freeh group study, that involved interviews from more than 200 FMPD employees and uncovered some issues within the department.

These issues include practices of racial profiling, police brutality, and wrongful arrests for several years.
