Crews extinguished the flames of a structure fire Halloween night, Charlotte County Fire & EMS said.

Crews were called around 6 p.m. to a structure fire on the 7000 block of Alan Boulevard, according to fire officials.

The resident said he heard a popping sound when he discovered his garage was on fire. The resident then attempted to put out the fire with a bucket before realizing it was out of control, fire officials said.

The resident and his dog made it out of the house, and he was treated for minor burn injuries on scene and refused to be transport to the hospital, Charlotte County Fire & EMS said.

Red Cross responded to the scene to assist the resident’s because home is now uninhabitable. The State Fire Marshal is investigating the cause of the fire, fire officials said.
