Driver hits and injures four bicyclists in Sarasota County

Four people are in critical condition after being hit by a car Tuesday morning, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

At 10:26 a.m., three men and one woman were bicycling in the right bicycle lane of eastbound Center Road near Rockley Boulevard. The bicyclists changed from the right lane to the left lane in front of an approaching Chevrolet in the left lane, FHP said.

The driver of the Chevrolet hit all four bicyclists.

Three were taken by med-flight to Sarasota Memorial and one other person was taken by ambulance, according to FHP.

All four are currently in critical condition.
