For those celebrating Halloween in Southwest Florida, festivities will have to come a day early thanks to a high profile visitor.

President Trump is hosting a ‘Make America Great Again’ rally at the Hertz Arena, formerly the Germain Arena, October 31 at 7:00 p.m., campaigning for the second time with Republican nominee for governor, Ron DeSantis.

“I think it’s great,” said Estero resident Scott Patterson, “because he’s doing great things for the country.”

And just across the way, local businesses in Estero are getting ready.

Miromar Outlets are already rescheduling its annual trick-or-treat event to avoid the extra congestion.

Event organizers say the Halloween event will go exactly as planned, just a day early.

“With trick-or-treating, we have about a thousand kids come in, so they wouldn’t have a place to park due to the event going on at Hertz at 7p.m.,” said Jeff Staner, vice president of Miromar Outlets.

Some who live nearby are not happy about the inconvenience.

“I’m not thrilled with the idea of him being president, let alone coming here and giving us more traffic to deal with,”said Michelle Kiely.

Traffic will be an issue for whichever route the president takes from RSW, either I-75 or more likely Ben Hill Griffin Parkway.

WINK News spoke to the Secret Service and they said they can’t reveal any specifics, but they will be doing everything they can to maximize security for the president.

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office is in charge of traffic control, but also gave no specifics.
