A city-wide effort begins on November, 12 where school supplies, fun toys and hygiene items will be placed in empty shoe boxes, then donated to overseas children for the Samaritan’s Purse project. The project, Operation Christmas Child, will be conducted in 5,000 cities throughout the United States. In Fort Myers, its national collection week will be held from Nov. 12 to Nov. 19. This year has an ambitious goal. Organizers hope to collect 29,320 gifts in the Fort Myers area to put Operation Christmas Child on track for its global goal to reach 11 million children.
