Pedestrian hit, killed by car on Cape Coral Parkway

A pedestrian was killed in a crash Sunday morning on Cape Coral Parkway East, the Cape Coral Police Department said.

The crash happened around 5:22 a.m. on the 900 block of Cape Coral Parkway, according to police.

Vehicle 1 was traveling eastbound in the inside travel lane of the 900-block of Cape Coral Parkway East, just east of the intersection at SE 8th Court.

A Chevrolet Malibu was traveling eastbound in the inside travel lane on the 900 block of Cape Coral Parkway East, just east of the intersection at Southeast Eighth Court, according to police.

The pedestrian —later identified as Steven A. Grant, 54— attempted to walk across the eastbound lanes of Cape Coral Parkway East outside of the designated crosswalk, police said. He then crossed in front of the Chevrolet, and the Chevrolet front of the car hit Grant.

Grant came to rest approximately 100 feet from the initial crash, and the Chevrolet Malibu stopped in the inside travel lane of Cape Coral Parkway East, according to police.
