A robbery took place Sunday morning at a RaceTrac off Bonita Beach Road Southeast, according to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies confirm that the suspect, 26-year-old Corey Williams, is now in custody.

The robbery happened at the gas station on 10801 Furlong St.

The store clerk advised a male wearing a hooded sweatshirt entered the store and demanded money. The suspect also threatened to shoot everyone in the store if the clerk did not comply. The clerk opened the register and gave the suspect the cash. An additional witness observed the male fleeing the store in a white Cadillac and reported the tag number.

The vehicle was located with a male driver, who then fled from the driver’s seat. The suspect then ran into a residence located at 27079 Elaine Drive. The suspect eventually exited the residence and was taken into custody.

Williams faces charges of robbery and was booked in the Lee County Jail.
