A home was completely engulfed in flames Tuesday evening on Fort Myers Beach. The house was deemed a total loss.

The fire sparked at 7:53 p.m. on the 200 block of Delmar Avenue, according to Executive Assistant Fire Chief of Life Safety & Support Services Ron Martin. The home was ruled a total loss.

Three people were taken to the hospital, but their current conditions are unclear at this time, Martin said. One pet was killed in the fire, another was rescued.

An arson task force team is investigating the cause of the fire, Martin said. Estero Boulevard is expected to remain closed until 11 p.m.
