Health department to offer free flu clinic in Naples

Southwest Florida residents can still get their flu shot for free Saturday at a flu clinic.

The Florida Department of Health in Collier County is is hosting the clinic from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Naples campus on 3339 Tamiami Trail East.

Flu shots will be given to anyone age 6 months and older. Attendees without insurance can still get the flu shot.

Stephanie Vick, Administrator for the Florida Department of Health in Collier County, stressed the need for families to get their flu shots.

“Teaching children to cover their coughs and sneezes, to wash their hands properly and often, and to avoid touching their faces can help stop the spread of the influenza virus,” Vick said.

Emergency room visits for flu and flu-like illnesses are increasing in Collier County, according to the a statement from the health department.

If you can’t make it on Saturday, they’ll hold another clinic at the health department in Immokalee on Sunday from noon until 3.
