The City of Cape Coral Charter Authority has appointed a superintendent for its charter schools, and her name is Jacquelin Collins.

Collins has been the interim superintendent since her predecessor, Nelson Stephenson, announced his resignation in April 2017, according to a statement from the city.

In her position, Collins will be responsible for four schools, two campuses, staff, and more than 3,500 students, according to the city.

She will serve as a liaison between the Lee County School District and City of Cape Coral, according to a release. Collins will also implement long term planning strategies and oversee administrative departments of the charter school system.

“It’s critical that we develop and nurture a world-class academic and athletics environment for students …,” Collins said in a statement.
