Driver arrested for driving through crime scene, causing another crash

Cape Coral Police say a driver ran through the crime scene of a serious crash and allegedly almost causing another crash.

Officers were on scene of a serious injury crash near the 4400 block of Vincennes Boulevard with overhead patrol car lights, cones, flares, and crime scene tape.

A car drove through the scene at a high rate of speed without slowing until officers, thinking a fellow officer was hit, yelled for the driver to stop, police said.

Pamela J. Smith, 41, of North Fort Myers was arrested and faces charges of DUI and possession of marijuana. Police say Smith’s blood alcohol level was 0.154. Smith was also found in possession of marijuana during a search incident to arrest according to police.
