One person died Monday night in a crash on Williams Avenue, the Florida Highway Patrol said. James Beasley, 69, of Lehigh Acres, was killed in the single-vehicle wreck around 9 p.m., according to the FHP. Beasley was driving north on Williams Avenue, passing West 18th Street, when he traveled off the road, and his 2009 Chevrolet HHR went airborne over a canal. Beasley then landed in front of a home on the 1800 block of Acacia Avenue, State troopers. He was taken to the Lehigh Regional Hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries. It’s unclear how his car went airborne, but alcohol was not a factor in the crash.
