SOUTH FORT MYERS, Fla. One person died in a crash Saturday night on Alico Road, the Florida Highway Patrol said. Jeremy Steven Savinsky, 42 of North Fort Myers, was driving a Harley Davidson motorcycle around 10:10 p.m. in the inside lane of Alico Road, just east of Lee Road, and did not maintain a safe distance when merging into the center lane, according to the FHP. Savinsky then hit the rear of a 2013 Chevy Silverado. Following the crash, Savinsky was thrown from the motorcycle and landed in the inside lane, State troopers said. Alcohol was a factor for Savinsky, and he was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, according to State troopers. Savinsky was a lieutenant in the North Fort Myers Control District, according to a Facebook post.
