NAPLES, Fla. One person was killed in a shooting early Sunday morning in a neighborhood near downtown, the Naples Police Department said. Police responded to gunfire around 1:49 a.m. to the 1100 block of Sixth Avenue North and found Franklin Francois, 25, of Fort Myers with a gunshot wound to his abdomen. The victim was taken to Naples Community Hospital, just blocks away, but he later succumbed to his injuries, police said. Detectives are investigating the homicide, but it’s unclear if any arrests were made. No further information was immediately available.
