FORT MYERS, Fla. It’s a light at the end of the tunnel.

Southwest Florida residents can get hurricane relief from a source they might not immediately think of. Homeowners can receive financial assistance from the Small Business Administration to offset damage caused by Irma.

It’s not necessary to own a business to receive a loan.

“We’re very grateful to the SBA for being so available and accessible to help people like us who are really in a tough spot,” Fort Myers resident Sheri Schooley said.

The deadline to apply is Nov. 9.

Applications can be completed online or from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. seven days a week at the following recovery centers:

  • Golden Gate Community Center on 4701 Golden Gate Parkway, Naples.
  • Bonita Springs Recreation Center on 26740 Pine Avenue, Bonita Springs.

Southwest Florida residents shared photos of their home after Irma’s destruction.
