Police: Cape hospital worker stole necklace off dead patient

CAPE CORAL, Fla. A hospital worker was arrested on accusations he stole a necklace off a dead patient and pawned it.

Reiner Padron-Molina, 20, of the 700 block on Southwest 18th Terrace, took a gold necklace valued at $1,938 from the neck of a patient at Cape Coral Hospital just after the patient passed away, police said.

Padron-Molina later pawned it at Cape Jewelry & Pawn on 8 Del Prado Blvd., according to police.

Lee Health tipped officers to the case, police said. It’s unclear whether Padron-Molina is still employed.

He faces multiple charges, including larceny and fraud. He was released on $25,000.
