Florida International Airshow lands in Punta Gorda this weekend

Published: Updated:

Punta Gorda, Fla. Expect to see aircrafts of all shapes, sizes, makes and models at the Florida International Airshow this weekend in Punta Gorda.

Soaring with the show is a childhood dream come true for Scott “Scooter” Yoak , Pilot of The Resurrected Veteran P-51D, “What makes this air show the best is the people that come out to see it. The community is all about this air show. ”

“I was raised in the aviation industry and my father was also an air show performer. I set my dreams to be here one day.” Yoak  said.

It’s a dream shared by F-35 Alpha pilot Casey Manning, “I was a young child always looking skyward, looking at airplanes, so it’s always been a dream of mine.”

And these pilots know the show is about much more than appreciating aviation, it’s about honoring history.

“It’s not about the guy that’s flying it, it’s about the guys that were flying it before me, those that came before me. This airplane is a flying tribute to all of our veterans and every time we fly this airplane we’re preserving history.” Manning said. “My favorite part is going back to the kids and closing the loop and being able to influence them to continue with that inspiration to follow their dreams.”
