CAPE CORAL, Fla. A veteran came face-to-face with burglars inside his home.

Larry Kleiner noticed a man near his back lanai and could hear other voices when he arrived home Monday night.

Kleiner went into his room, grabbed his gun from his nightstand and told his wife to wait in the car.

“So I came out the door and the person I saw went running down that way,” Kleiner said. “If I’d have caught up with the one of them, I would have taken them down in a heartbeat.”

Kleiner was able to scare off the suspects before they were able to steal anything.

“We came home at the perfect time,” Kleiner said.

Kleiner’s lanai screen was sliced and a few of his plants were knocked over, but he did not sustain any injuries.

“It’s a sickening feeling. You wanna absolutely vomit that somebody’s violating your home,” he said.

The Kleiners and the Cape Coral Police Department are hoping to track down the suspects who remain at large.

Anyone with information should contact the Cape Coral Police Department at 239-574-3223.
