PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. Two people died late Saturday night in a crash on Kings Highway, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

The single-vehicle wreck happened around 11:20 p.m. on Kings Highway, just west of Westchester Boulevard, according to the FHP.

Port Charlotte residents Rusticus V. Jones, 46, and Robin M. Chalupa, 45, were killed when the driver of the Suzuki motorcycle approached a curve in the roadway, drifted into the main portion of the road and overturned after hitting a raised concrete curb, State troopers said.

Prior to the wreck, the motorcyclist was “traveling faster than the posted speed limit,” according to State troopers.

Both the driver and passenger were pronounced dead at separate hospitals, State troopers said.

The identities of the driver and passenger are unclear pending next-of-kin notification, according to State troopers. It’s unclear if alcohol was involved.
