North Fort Myers approved for $2 million makeover

NORTH FORT MYERS, Fla. Portions of North Fort Myers will receive a $2 million makeover in hopes of attracting more business and to create more jobs.

Lee County Commissioners approved the money Friday and business owners like Wendy Fahl are excited for the change.

“I have good hopes for this area. North Fort Myers is a diamond in the rough,” Fahl said.

Commissioner Brian Hamm believes it will take more legwork to get a plan in place for revitalizing the area, because North Fort Myers does not have a mayor or city council.

The money will go towards building grants and helping businesses pay for applications and other developing fees, Hamm said. The money will also go towards removing old buildings no longer in use.
