Storm debris pickup begins Thursday in Punta Gorda

PUNTA GORDA, Fla. Storm debris collection within city limits will begin Thursday.

Contractors from CrowderGulf will pick up the waste at residential curbsides, the city said.

Debris should be set apart from regular household garbage and should not be placed in bags, cans or other containers, the city said. It should not be near storm drains, fences, fire hydrants, mailboxes, poles, transformers, downed wires, water meters, vehicles or close to overhead wires.

Residents are asked to rake up any remaining debris after crews have passed and place it in a container. That waste will be collected by the city starting Friday.
