ARCADIA, Fla. A mandatory evacuation order is in effect Tuesday morning for low lying flood prone areas, the National Hurricane Center said.

A flood warning remains in effect for the Myakka River At Myakka River State Park, the Peace River At Barto, Peace River At Zolfo Spring, the Peace River At Arcadia, and Horse Creek near Arcadia, according to the National Hurricane Center.

“Significant river flooding will continue over the next several days as heavy rainfall from Hurricane Irma drains into West Central Florida rivers,” the National Hurricane Center said.

Motorists should not drive through flooding areas, and can report flooding to the emergency operations center from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. 863-993-4831, according to the National Hurricane Center.
