Sanibel Causeway passes inspection, to reopen to drivers Tuesday

SANIBEL, Fla. The Sanibel Causeway will reopen for motorists Tuesday, Lee County emergency management officials said.

The bridge was inspected, and the Lee County Department of Transportation will continue to inspect other bridges, according to county officials.

Passes won’t be required to enter the island, city officials said.

Lee County officials revised their message allowing drivers to return and cited the city of Sanibel as the contact for information on re-entry. Anyone with questions should contact the city of Sanibel.
