NORTH PORT, Fla. A brush fire that closed a 9-mile stretch of Interstate 75 Saturday now covers an estimated 3,500 acres, the Florida Forest Service said Sunday afternoon.

The interstate, which was shut down from Kings Highway to Toledo Blade Boulevard, reopened late Saturday night, according to a tweet from the forest service.

Containment remains at 30 percent, the forest service said.

The blaze began burning around 1 p.m. on Saturday.

Officials did not provide a detailed map showing exactly where the fire is burning.

Crews from multiple agencies are working to extinguish the flames.
