FORT MYERS, Fla. Thieves are stealing tires and batteries off Florida Power and Light trucks, and the utility company is offering up to $10,000 for information leading to arrest and conviction.

Thefts have taken place since January in Fort Myers, Bonita Springs, Port St. Lucie and Jupiter.

“We believe the thieves are part of a highly organized crime ring targeting specific tires and batteries on FPL trucks,” the company said in a statement. “When thieves steal from FPL, they are effectively stealing from all of our customers by raising the costs of doing business – which means everyone eventually pays.”

Anyone with information on the thefts is asked to contact law enforcement.
