LEHIGH ACRES, Fla. A 23-year-old man was killed in a crash Wednesday night on Lee Boulevard, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

The crash happened shortly before midnight at the intersection of Lee Boulevard and Lee Court. David Conde, of Lehigh Acres, was traveling eastbound on Lee Boulevard west of Lee Court while Kevin Steen, 20, was driving westbound.

Conde’s 2002 Dodge Neon then ran off the road across all the eastbound lanes and crossed the median. The Dodge went airborne and wound up in the westbound lanes, where it collided with Steen’s 2007 Cadillac Escalade.

The Dodge caught fire after the collision, the FHP said.

The Escalade spun out and landed in the between the center and inside westbound lanes.

Conde was pronounced dead at the scene.

Steen, whom MLB.com listed as the team’s No. 27 prospect at the start of the season, was taken to Lee Memorial Hospital.
