MIAMI The FGCU baseball team lost its second consecutive game to FIU 7-0 Wednesday night at FIU Baseball Stadium. The Panthers jumped to an early lead in the first inning with a two-run double down the right-field line from JC Escarra. FIU extended their lead 3-0 in the bottom of the third when Zach Soria scored Irving Lopez with an RBI single. Lopez added another pair of runs to the scoreboard in the fifth when he smashed a two-run homer. While the Eagles hit the ball hard a number of times, the team only managed two hits in the top of the sixth. Escarra hit an RBI double in the bottom of the eighth, then later scored on a fielding error off a single from Christian Coipel, making it a 7-0 ballgame. The Eagles is on the road this weekend for a conference series at the University of North Florida. Game one is slated for Friday at 6 p.m. while games two and three Saturday and Sunday at 1 p.m.
