FORT MYERS, Fla. A San Carlos Park family lost everything when their home on Albatross Road went up in flames Saturday night. The fire took place around 7 p.m. The residents were able to escape with their pets. The two were home relaxing with their pets when they suddenly heard a loud popping noise from the garage. Soon after, flames consumed the garage. Firefighters from the Estero and San Carlos fire departments tried to save whatever they could from the home, but witnesses believe the home is a total loss. “They were spraying from inside the garage, [but] the fire was not going down,” said witness Zachary Van Osten. “The fire started to spread to the roof as they were spraying it. They had to cut down the garage door so they could get inside of the garage.” Fire officials are still investigating the cause of the fire.
