CAPE CORAL, Fla. A suspicious man is accused of trying to lure two boys into his car near the 4300 block of Southwest 26th Avenue Friday night, Cape Coral Police said.

Two brothers were playing basketball outside of their home when a man driving a white four door Sedan approached them, police said.

The man told the boys he’d reward them with a dollar coin if they could get the basketball in the hoop. When the boys missed, the man drove away, police said.

However, the man returned a few minutes later and asked the boys to come to the car and get the coin. The older brother asked the man to throw the coin instead, police said.

“Let the little one come over and get it,” the man said.

The man drove away after the boys ran into their home afraid, police said.

The boys described the stranger as a man with gray hair and pale skin. He appeared to be in his 40s or 50s.

Two similar incidents were reported in Cape Coral within the last week. The first occurred last Tuesday, when a suspect tried to lure a 13-year-old girl into his car near the intersection of N.E. Sixth Avenue and N.E. 27th Terrace. The second happened Wednesday, when a man followed a girl as she was walking in the 300 block of Northeast Pine Island Road.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Cape Coral Police Department at 239-574-3223.
