NAPLES, Fla. A 19-year-old man is accused of sexually assaulting an underage girl suffering from mental health problems, the Collier County Sheriffs Office said.

Daryl Amador met a 15-year-old girl on Snapchat in February. The victim told Amador that she was only 15, but he insisted on meeting, officials said.

Amador picked up the victim without her parents’ permission and took her to eat at Chili’s Grill & Bar. Afterwards, he took the victim to his apartment at Berkshire Reserve near Santa Barbara Boulevard where they had sex, officials said.

The victim’s phone was later taken away by her mother for unrelated reasons, so she didn’t reconnect with Amador until late March through Facebook.

The victim snuck out of her house and met with Amador. He picked her up and took her to his apartment, deputies said.

As the two began having sex, the victim told Amador to stop. He initially complied, but then continued to have sex with her, despite her orders to stop, according to the sheriff’s office.

A few days later, the victim and her mother organized a controlled meeting with deputies. Amador believed he was communicating with the victim through Facebook and agreed to meet again Friday.

Deputies then arrested Amador at his apartment, officials said.

Amador is in custody facing charges of lewd lascivious battery with a person 12-15 years of age, as well as obscene communication and travel to lure a minor, according to the sheriffs office.

The victim’s mother told authorities her daughter has been diagnosed with bipolar disorder, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, Tourette’s syndrome and psychosis, officials said.

Amador is scheduled to appear in court on April 24.
