LCSO uses simulation training to prepare for active shooter situation

LEHIGH ACRES, Fla. The ringing of gunshots is not a sound students want to hear inside a school, but the Lee County Sheriff’s Office is preparing for that situation.

Over 100 deputies, firefighters and EMS crews participated in an active shooter training simulation Friday morning at Lehigh Senior High School.

“We want to be prepared for anything that happens here in Lee County,” said LCSO Lt. Scott Linerberger. “We want to make sure that if that day comes, which we hope it never does, the other law enforcement agencies in Lee County are also prepared.”

No students were in school at the time of the training.
