FGCU baseball stays red-hot, defeats Rutgers 5-2

FORT MYERS, Fla. The FGCU men’s baseball their winning streak Friday night in a 5-2 victory over Rutgers University.

The Eagles took an early lead at the bottom of the second inning with a Spencer Levine’s RBI double into left-center field to score Corey Fehribach, who led off with a single.

The Scarlet Knights’ Jawuan Harris then scored on a solo home run with two outs, but the Eagles reciprocated with three more runs, making it a 4-1 game.

Rutgers crossed home plate on another solo home run when Tom Marcinczyk smashed one over the opposite field at the top of the fourth inning.

However, the Eagles were able to score another run in the bottom of the fifth inning and maintain their lead for the rest of the game.

FGCU will face Rutgers again Saturday at 2 p.m. for the second of a three-game series.
