FORT MYERS BEACH, Fla. Rep. Francis Rooney held a meeting with around 50 local community members at Fish-Tale Marina Saturday. The discussion, called “Weighing in on the Water,” addressed water quality and quantity in the area. “It’s degraded severely — we saw what happened last summer. It’s going to happen again if we have a wet year and if Hurricane Matthew was 30 miles west, we would have had a disaster at Lake Okeechobee,” Rooney said, adding that he wants to push for more federal funding for the Everglades Restoration Project. This meeting comes one day after Rooney hosted packed town hall meetings in Cape Coral and Naples.
