Pedestrian killed in Lee Blvd. crash

LEHIGH ACRES, Fla. A pickup truck hit and killed a pedestrian on Lee Boulevard just east of Ida Avenue North, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Fort Myers resident Meria Ann Jiles, 46, died in the crash that took place shortly before 7 p.m., according to the FHP. The wreck blocked all eastbound lanes of Lee Boulevard between Ida Avenue North and Hanna Avenue North.

The roadblock cleared shortly after 10 p.m.

Charges for the driver of the Ford F-250 pickup, 56-year-old Victor Billie of Ave Maria, are pending an FHP investigation. Jones was trying to cross Lee Boulevard east of Ida Avenue North, according to an FHP report.

No other information is immediately available.
