4 suspects in custody following I-75 car chase

NAPLES, Fla. — Four people were arrested Tuesday following a 45-minute car chase down Interstate 75, the Collier County Sheriff’s Office said.

Three men and one woman were arrested after leading Collier and Broward deputies on a chase across Alligator Alley.

The pursuit began near the border of Collier County around 4:30 p.m. after an unsuccessful traffic stop for illegal tinting, Collier County officials said.

At one point during the chase, the driver of the Nissan briefly pulled over before taking off again.

However, Collier deputies had to drop the chase when they lost sight of the car.

Broward County deputies and the Florida Highway Patrol took over the chase when the Nissan crossed county lines, officials said.

The Nissan was speeding at nearly 110 mph, but the driver eventually pulled over for good near mile marker 33.

Although deputies approached the car with guns drawn, they were able to arrest all four without incident and transported them to the Broward County Sheriff’s Office.

The woman was driving the Nissan and the men were passengers. Officials are investigating possible charges for fleeing and eluding deputies, as well as illegal tinting.

The Broward County Sheriff’s Office couldn’t be reached for comment.

The suspects’ names were not available.
