Polaris shuts down Victory motorcycle brand

FORT MYERS, Fla. — A Southwest Florida motorcycle dealership was caught off guard Monday when Polaris Industries announced its decision to eliminate the Victory Motorcycle brand.

Manfred Ganzer, owner of Haus of Trikes and Bikes, said the sudden announcement left him with over $100,000 worth of inventory and questions from concerned bikers.

“It’s a lot of money involved in all this and for us,” he said. “It’s not good news.”

Ganzer was shocked by the announcement, as the Victory lines had been selling well in Southwest Florida and the dealership was predicting a successful 2017. But Polaris CEO Scott Wine cited the brand’s inability to establish enough of a share of the market as a whole.

Victory sales peaked in 2012, when they accounted for just 3 percent of the company’s revenue.

Polaris representatives said they will help dealers clear their inventory, and replacement parts will be manufactured for 10 years.
