Bonita to vote on dispensary moratorium, despite Amendment 2

Published: Updated:

BONITA SPRINGS, Fla. — Bonita Springs City Council members will vote Wednesday to temporarily bar medical marijuana dispensaries.

Voters passed Amendment 2 in November, significantly expanding the legal use of medical marijuana. Some dispensaries have already opened elsewhere in Florida, but the Bonita Springs City Council will vote to impose a moratorium.

If put in place, the moratorium would ban marijuana dispensaries in Bonita Springs until August, according to the city council meeting agenda. There is already a city restriction on smoking medical marijuana in public.

The meeting will begin at 5:30 p.m. at Bonita Springs City Hall on 9101 Bonita Beach Road SE.
