SANIBEL, Fla. — An American bald eagle with a serious leg injury is being treated at the Clinic for the Rehabilitation for Wildlife.

The 6-pound adult male eagle was discovered on Pine Island Sound and taken to the Sanibel clinic Tuesday, when it appeared quiet, dehydrated and emaciated, the clinic said.

The bird was given a blood transfusion and showed slight improvement during a Wednesday morning exam, according to the clinic. It was more alert, vocal and attempting to stand.
