FORT MYERS, Fla. — A woman was taken to the hospital Wednesday night after a condo fire near downtown, the Fort Myers Fire Department said. Fire crews responded at 7:43 p.m. to a call from the ninth floor at Pointe Royale on 1910 Virginia Ave. Investigators said a pot caught fire while it was cooking on the stove. One person was transported to the hospital in cardiac arrest. The state fire marshal is investigating the fire. No further information was immediately available.
