IMMOKALEE, Fla. — A Fort Myers man is accused of leading Collier County deputies on a chase while his passengers pleaded with him to stop.

Jorge Rea, 31, was driving 86 mph in a 50 mph zone Saturday when deputies tried to pull him over near Wilson Boulevard, the Collier County Sheriff’s Office said. He accelerated instead, according to the sheriff’s office.

Rea stopped near Platt Road and surrendered to deputies, throwing his keys away and saying he was sorry, according to his arrest report. One of the passengers told deputies he gets like this when he drinks, the sheriff’s office said. Rea refused a field sobriety test and deputies found his license had been suspended.

Rea is facing multiple charges, including DUI. He posted $12,000 bond after being booked at the Immokalee Jail Center.
