Bokeelia woman faces charges for July fatal crash

BOKEELIA, Fla. — A Lee County woman was arrested Sunday for a deadly crash that occurred in July at the intersection of Stringfellow Road and Marina Road, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Brenda L. Green, 57, of Bokeelia, faces charges of Driving Under the Influence Manslaughter and three counts of DUI Property Damage, the FHP said.

The FHP conducted an investigation following the crash and arrested Green based on their findings. She was taken to the Lee County Jail.

Green was driving a 2013 Kia Rio north on Stringfellow Road, near Marina Road, according to the FHP report. A pedestrian, Diane Frazee Luther, 62, of Bokeelia, was walking on a sidewalk north of Marina Road when the crash occurred.

“[The 2013 Kia Rio] struck a culvert and went airborne, traveling over Marina Road,” according to the updated press release. “[The 2013 Kia Rio] landed on the north side of Marina Road and struck [the] pedestrian … who was walking on the sidewalk.”

Luther died at the scene, according to the release.

No further information was immediately available.
