ORLANDO, Fla. — Prominent attorney John Morgan is considering a run for governor in 2018.

The Orlando-based Morgan, who has two Southwest Florida offices, along with commercials and billboards that are a frequent presence throughout the region, indicated in a statement on Thursday that he would make a decision next year.

An outspoken advocate of Amendment 2, which expanded the legal use of medical marijuana throughout the state, Morgan said he would support the decriminization of all marijuana use.

Amendment 2 passed with 71 percent of the vote, well above the required 60 percent threshold.

Morgan also supports a $15 minimum wage and abolishing the lieutenant governor’s office.

Gov. Rick Scott, who’s mulling a U.S. Senate run, is ineligible for re-election due to term limits.
