Naples homicide victim identified as 33-year-old man from LaBelle

Published: Updated:

NAPLES, Fla. – The man shot and killed Friday on the 500 block of 14th Street has been identified by police as 33-year-old Anthony Sanchez of LaBelle.

He was killed in Naples’ third 2016 shooting. The first was on April 12, when a man was shot in downtown Naples after an argument, followed by another on Aug. 15 when a teen accidentally shot and killed himself at Coastland Center Mall.

Sanchez’s neighbors are in disbelief.

“Whenever they were outside, we said hello,” said neighbor Daniel Mariapen. “They are very nice and I never knew that this thing would happen.”

Police did not know who the shooter was Friday, but some witnesses said Sanchez was not the intended target.

The Naples Police Department is investigating Sanchez’ death as a homicide and detectives are seeking information from witnesses.

No further information was immediately available.

Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Noe at 239-213-4828.
