Car on fire prompts investigation in Naples Park

NAPLES, Fla. – A car was doused in gasoline and set on fire Saturday morning on the 600 block of 100th Avenue North, raising questions about possible suspicious activity in Naples Park.

The mother of the victim told WINK News she didn’t know her son’s Honda Civic was on fire until a neighbor alerted her.

Timothy Nagy, another neighbor who witnessed the car fire, said the man who alerted the mother tried to help.

“The flames were, like, ten feet in the air so you really couldn’t do anything,” Nagy said. “He pushed the car back and he was screaming ‘Where was his son,’ but his son was in the house with his mom…thank God.”

Thousands of dollars in customized stereo equipment was destroyed.

A fire marshal is investigating the fire. The person responsible has not been caught.
