CAPE CORAL, Fla. — Shots rang out near S.E. 26th St. and Shelby Parkway Tuesday and a 10-year-old girl was the sole witness, according to the Cape Coral Police Department.

The girl’s father, 33-year-old David Arevalo, contacted police on behalf of his daughter, saying she saw someone shoot multiple rounds from inside a black Scion SUV while stopped at the intersection of S.E. 26th Street and Shelby Parkway.

The girl told police she saw at least three people in the SUV.

Responding officers searched the area and didn’t notice any suspicious activity. However, they did recover shell casings from the intersection and spotted bullet holes in the stop sign, police reports confirm.

Police collected the shell casings for evidence.
