Samsung recalls top-load washing machines; risk of impact injuries

FORT MYERS, Fla. — Samsung is recalling about 2.8 million of their top-load washing machines because their machine tops can detach unexpectedly from the washing machine’s chassis during use, posing a risk of injury from impact.

Samsung has received 733 reports of washing machines experiencing excessive vibration or the top detaching from the machine. There are nine related reports of injuries, including a broken jaw, injured shoulder and other impact or fall-related injuries.

The recall includes 34 models of these top-load washers. The following model numbers are included in the recall depending on the serial number, which can be found on two labels attached the back of the machine.
