Winn-Dixie to close pharmacies at 4 SWFL stores

FORT MYERS, Fla. — Reduced demand is prompting Winn-Dixie to close pharmacies at four of its 23 Southwest Florida locations, a spokesman for the company said.

Pharmacies in the stores on 10580 Colonial Blvd. in Fort Myers, 8650 Gladiolus Drive in south Fort Myers and 10026 Coconut Road in Bonita Springs will cease operations Thursday. The pharmacy at 61 Bell Boulevard North in Lehigh Acres will close Friday.

The company is transitioning the pharmacy records of its customers to CVS pharmacies nearest the locations that are closing, the spokesman said. Pharmacies at 12 other Winn-Dixie stores will remain open.

“We are fully supporting the associates impacted by this decision,” the company said in a statement. “We are incredibly sensitive to how change may affect some of our customers and are working hard to ensure that our customers are supported throughout this change.”
