FORT MYERS, Fla.- The U.S. Food and Drug Administration is warning consumers that homeopathic teething tablets and gels may pose a risk to infants and children. Dr. Annette St. Pierre-MacKoul stopped by the studio to discuss these new findings and provide an update on flu season.

Homeopathic Teething Tablets

  • Distributed by CVS, Hyland’s and others
  • Safety alert issued in 2010
  • FDA have not evaluated nor approved tablets
  • No proven health benefits of tablets

Adverse Effects noted from Teething Tablets:

  • Seizures
  • Difficulty breathing
  • Lethargy
  • Excessive sleepiness
  • Muscle weakness
  • Skin flushing
  • Constipation
  • Agitation
  • Difficulty urinating
