FREEHOLD, N.J. (AP) – Bruce Springsteen is meeting thousands of fans at a bookstore in his New Jersey hometown as he launches a book tour.

Springsteen is celebrating Tuesday’s release of his autobiography “Born to Run” at a bookstore in Freehold. Tickets are sold out.

A few fans camped out overnight and others began arriving around 6 a.m. for the event. It was scheduled to start at noon, but Springsteen arrived around 10:30 a.m.

Fans get a signed copy of the book and a chance to take a picture with him.

In the book, Springsteen remembers his childhood in New Jersey and personal struggles that inspired songs such as “Born to Run” and “Thunder Road.”

Springsteen’s book tour will also stop in New York; Philadelphia; Seattle; Los Angeles; San Francisco; Cambridge, Massachusetts; and Portland, Oregon.
